I’m a beginner in both (heavily leaning towards putting more time into learning Rust though). Could you please elaborate a bit?

This is a very uplifting and interesting talk. Thanks for posting!
I know. I have a bunch of redirect extensions on all my device’s browsers, so this is what I get when I click on these links. No such extensions on iOS sadly.
Setting up such a bot shouldn’t be too hard though, I see it all the time for YouTube to Invidious instances.
Nice find. Here it is without JS, or giving medium your traffic:

As long as Google keeps making Pixel phones that support the installation of GrapheneOS, I’ll still be using at least one Google product. Ironically, to specifically get away from the rest of Google.
I was just going to chime in with this. I don’t know the details of their implementation, but I get transcripts with every video I download using yt-dlp (if it exists which it does 99.9% of the time).
I’m self teaching myself to become a true Fullstack Dev, mainly using JS/TS, but also semantic HTML and Vanilla CSS, but have more than a passing knowledge of Bash, and have scripted web scrapers in Python. I also want to become proficient in C, Golang and Rust over the long haul. Lastly, I am studying, and plan to upkeep my skills in Data Structures and Algorithms, as well as Optimizing SQL queries.
That said, I have a degree in Illustration and can definitely identify with many of the sentiments this article expresses and agree with pretty much all the points he makes. You can make the most well designed back end API or optimized Database in the world, but what it returns won’t mean shit to the user if its frontend isn’t accessible, easily understandable as to how to interact with, readable, and also beautiful.
People toss that last one out as a want, not a need, but how often have you chosen a client app over another because you just preferred the way that one looked?
Ultimately aesthetic artistic beauty is one of those things we not only live for, but survive because of. Without it we become depressed, bored, and aggravated. It’s as important as food, as water, as air. We may not die as quickly when deprived of beauty, but we do die all the same without it.
In short, creating beauty is serious work.
Meh. I have a 1px gap for all my windows on bspwm. But I also have no bar at all. I just commit one workspace to a full screen btop on session start.
Am I wasting screen space? Probably…at the end of the day, I feel more organized, but others could easily point out that ideally I’d have 0 gaps and no btop and no bar, and that would be best for organization. Afaic, it’s just personal preference.
I also use Librewolf on Desktop and Mull on Android Mobile. I’m very happy with the setup.
Nice! Thanks for this.
Good luck to you on the job search. I have hope that your hard work will pay off.
Thanks. Yeah, it definitely seems bleak. I just keep making things though while trying to basically get a CS degree without the actual piece of paper. Lots of resources online and I have family and friends in the industry, so that helps keep me motivated.
Thank you for the words of encouragement.
Good article. Makes me sad though as I’m a self taught web dev starting out. Just gonna keep going though. Nothing much else to do tbh.
just keeps on keeping on with neovim, vimium, a tiling window manager, and an ortholinear keyboard.
Why stop with Xitter? I personally feel like there should be a national equivalent to the corporate search engines, job boards, etc. National alternatives to everything.
Interesting. The creator included the !bang feature. Nice. Gonna have to play with this more.
Too many better alternatives. Reddit (yeah, even after spez’s shit, Reddit is still better than Quora), Stack Overflow/Exchange, and now ChatGPT.
The noJS frontend Quetre even let you browse it without having to log in. I used it for a hot minute before realizing the answers on Quora were generally hot garbage.
It’s a reminder that not all of the old web was better, despite our collective nostalgia.
Meh. Popped in using stealth on Android. Not even a mention of the IPO. Just like everywhere on there, it’s just gotten more lame.
Everyone remember to pollute your answers wherever you post them at least once a day.
