Deleting posts from the user PoV was the only way I could come up with to force the API to show them to me.
This is similar to when I heard reddit was doing the API lockdown, I wrote an automation bot over the weekend that self-destructed my subreddit and the entire post history. The bot also automatically downloaded and archived all of the content on my local machine.
It was annoying because at first I couldn’t get access to older posts since at the time reddit had changed their API to only show the first X posts (100 or 1,000 or whatever). So I told my bot to delete the posts as it archived them so as I deleted content, reddit had no choice but to populate the page with the older posts.
And that’s how I archived my subreddit. Reddit banned me two days later for automation, lol. I did not break any of the reddit or reddit api ToS during this process but I guess I upset someone.

And the weapon is ideas? If a society has to shield itself from ideas to prevent revolt, then perhaps that society has bigger problems. Patching the hole as a united bipartisan front, when the ONLY things that receives united bipartisan support is corporate interests, kinda gives their hand away. As far as Snowden’s words, I look at the content of what he says, and I have yet to notice any straying from the original message. The message being, “The United States does not follow its own laws or ideals, and not only intends to violate these rights with regards to terrorists but with regard to everyone.” If I were to notice straying from the message, or propaganda (coerced or otherwise) I would of course react accordingly. Every interview I have seen, and I haven’t seen them all, his views have been measured, thoughtful, terrifying, and enlightening. Not to mention, backed by substantial evidence.
As far as LLMs (AI doesn’t exist), it’s far too nascient to be undetected. Like ad-blockers and advertisers, there is a permanent war between LLM output and LLM detectors. In this battle, the detectors have, by far, the upper hand. In five years, who knows. But I work Iin tech and dabble in my own models. The LLM tech of today is extremely primitive.
I suppose I don’t understand the alternative, doesn’t the United States ask immigrants to do a similar type of pledge? I kinda expect most countries do. Seems logical. I could be wrong about that, maybe immigrants don’t have to pledge loyalty to the US for citizenship? I’ll have to look it up.
I guess to me it seems disingenuous to judge someone for making arrangements to live in a country he cannot leave. He is forced to stay there by the United States, it wasn’t a choice.
Anyway I could definitely be missing something here but I can’t think of what he could have done differently, what would you have done in his situation?
As an aside, I have a lot of respect for Snowden because he showed us how little respect the United States has for obeying its own laws. The laws which are based on our supposed virtues. The US violated every principle it proclaimed that American citizens had. We never had them. Turns out we’re just as crooked as the countries we judge. I value that knowledge, Snowden is a patriot who risked everything so the American people would know the truth about our government and he did it with utmost care. He’ll go down in history as such. He’s the reason we can even discuss this topic. I thank him for that gift, despite the contents being disgusting.

Want to know how I became homeless? I turned 18, and my parents said, “Alright have a nice life, you’re 18 now don’t be home when I get back.” After 18 years of teaching me zero life skills. Took me until my late 20s to find stability, meanwhile being constantly harassed by police for looking for a place to rest between time at school and work.
And before you go to the obvious speculation that lazy commenters always do. I didn’t and don’t drink alcohol, don’t do drugs, spent all of my time building computers. My parents just didn’t like having to spend money on someone that wasn’t them. I was always in advanced classes in school and most always was a solid B student even with zero home support. If it wasn’t for me winning the genetic lottery with my mind, I’d likely be dead or in prison like most of my childhood friends.
But you know, this is an anecdote and has no value in the vast scheme of things. Data driven results are all that matter, and yet, they still disagree with your lazy assessment that people are the source of their own situation. Believe it or not, these questions have been asked and answered, yet you remain unaware of them. The safety and support systems in the society you live in dictate homelessness, and I can tell you first hand, we have none in my country.
But that’s all the energy I can send to you, its not useful trying to teach chess to a pigeon, at the end of the day you’re going to spread your shit around and knock over the board anyway (a summary of your comments in this thread).

Footnote, if anyone cares about the ending to the homeless part of my story, I became a home owner in my 30s after living in rented rooms with Craigslist randoms for about a decade. Interesting times, most people are great.
