Aegis is my absolute favorite for 2FA’s, give it a try for sure. Pretty sure it’s only available on Android unfortunately though.

Use latlong.net/convert-address-to-lat-long.html, life saver with osmand+!
I’ve never noticed this, I’d bet it’s associated with your notification settings. My only gripe is that everytime my phone restarts, I have to open the app and reselected the ask first option for calling. Otherwise the number I don’t use associated with my service plan will be what I call from :/
With the original Beeper app you made an Apple ID through Apples website to use for setting up iMessage. This does require folks having the email in order to use iMessage, so definetly worth setting up an alias. It still works, while Beeper Mini doesn’t apparently.
Ya, implying recommending FOSS options is an involuntary action was tongue-in-cheek.
When I say “don’t think of a panda”, what do you think of? Pretty much the same thing with saying “don’t recommend me FOSS options” lol
Classic example of judging a book by it’s cover I guess. The fact big tech is embracing open source software more and more, you’d think this assessment should no longer be the case.
Even without being a programmer, associating Free Software with a MASSIVE purchase is bonkers.
Standard Notes is the best notes app on the market. It’s a cross platform and encrypted FOSS app which works great for to do lists.
They had a huge problem with their encryption for a while but I believe it’s now fixed. Additionally, it was ran by Kim Dotcom, the guy who hosted Megadownload, until the New Zealand government took over. So it’s had faulty encryption and is hosted by a 14 eyes government agency. This is why privacy communities recommend alternative options to Mega.
I know www.open-assistant.io was looking for help from anyone to put the final touches on their AI a little while back. Haven’t kept up recently but it’ll be a solid option once live.
Wine would allow for windows software to run on Linux. This would add additional potential software problems, but you wouldn’t need help from only Apple to fix em.
Wouldn’t a RHEL or similar distro which offers enterprise support be a good solution? Also, tech folks are very comfy on Linux as it’s how the internet basically operates. A distro with enterprise support and fully functional GUI that’s similar to windows seems like a solid solution to move from windows. What makes you hesitant to run RHEL on a sale employees computer?
Would Linux not be a better call? Both upfront and maintenance cost would be much lower without question.
The blockchain’s use of decentralization is pretty much a security measure. If you want to rule out the blockchain entirely, you’d still need to address the immutable and transpartent components. Only using one block once published moving forward is quite different than the fediverse. Then there’s smart contracts too. It’s a massive improvement to various current online platforms, to say it’s merely decentralization is highly misleading.
Edit: So far, web 3.0 has yet to impress me and I’d be surprised if it does anytime soon. But blockchain tech is not simplistic and can be setup for anonymity as well.
You should try perplexity.ai as it provides sources & even has filters too. I prefer the academic filter, plus I like checking the provided sources to ensure the AI connected the various info together correctly.
Edit: Perplexity is also updated throughout the day while ChatGPT only has info from 2021 & prior.
Yep, also encrypted and cross platform too!
Standard Notes is the downright best notes software, highly recommend it as a OneNote alt!
Once again, Linux with a win!
