I really cannot understand why advertising is such a huge business. Where does all the money spent on advertising really come from?
I’m just here to have a good time 🤗

Weren’t we all supposed to become “prompt engineers”?
I sometimes think to grok CSS you have to have a printing degree.
For a second or two I thought that you didn’t even get any actual ink. I had seen a post about multi-function printers refusing to scan if you’re out of ink, and I thought perhaps you could buy a card with an unlock code for such situations (hence “instant ink”). That’s not too unbelievable these days though, is it?

British Cycling is sponsored by oil company Shell.

British Cycling is the Host partner of the championship, according to the official website of the championship (linked to at the UCI website, “Organizer website” section), and its partner is Shell UK (announcement).
Someone pointed it out in the comments before, but it’s neatly summarized now 😝
There’s no reason for Microsoft to do that. That will just alienate existing Windows users enough to try other OSes while providing no benefit whatsoever to the corporation. Even Apple, which is known for its love of walled gardens, allows executing unsigned code in MacOS. So I very much doubt we’ll get a source.
Source?
Oh, didn’t notice that the title says love or hate.
So I hate time sinks, but I love roguelikes/roguelites that have well done metaprogression and also allow you to have fun with ridiculous overpowered builds.
Ubisoft is the worst offender!
There’s a special level of hell for people that do that!
Time sinks in MMOs at least give you something to show off to other players. Doing this stuff in single player is the worst.
I suppose some games could be an acquired taste, but usually the need to invest time before you can have any fun is just bad game design.
Any sort of not respecting the player’s time: grind, making the player do the computer’s job (e.g., not having an auto-sort button for the inventory), time sinks, unskippable cutscenes, slow walking etc.
Well, it adds a bit of suspense to a horror game. Not very scary if you can just save every minute.
This is NOT how you use text-shadow! 🤮
I suppose it’s not that unclear if you compare the revenue of all other industries combined to the revenue of the advertising industry. The ratio is pretty large and every type of industry buys ads, so it trickles down from everywhere.
