I use it. I think it was a hardening recommendation from lynis IIRC.
I definitely experienced a lot more freezing on my laptop after installing it (it’s a memory hog) so I upped my swap and things are back to normal.

I’m preaching to the choir here on Lemmy but I’m glad that I made the jump to Linux last year
Can you copy/paste your code so that we can take a look at it? Alternatively, if you load a tix on the Clipious GitHub, they might be able to assist.
I run Debian 12 and ran into similar issues trying to automount NFS, even down to having to use an alternative console to log in and undo f stab edits
My solution was simple and so hopefully it helps you as well. In fstab, the backslashes don’t cancel out spaces. Since my directory path had a space in it, that would break fstab:
Path/to/your/Video\ Files
breaks fstab
Path/to/your/VideoFiles
good
One vote for tracker control so that any apps w/ tracking software have a harder time also.
Same. Slickdeals and forget it. The website is a bit of a privacy nightmare w/ inserted tracking/referral links for every deal though. I’ve stopped logging in entirely and just use it for emailed alerts.
I second this one.
Recently I’ve created multiple ‘rooms’ in Telegram w/o any intentions of adding another person. Each room has a theme so that my notes are segmented. Also I have access to Google Speech Services, so I moved away from voice recordings completely. Instead, I dictate my notes, which are automatically turned into text. Works for a couple paragraphs, but if I were taking recording work meetings, I’d probably use Google Recorder
I hear you, but isn’t the proverbial horse’s head the fact that the EU is looming over them and forcing them to make a move?
RCS and USBC have been available for a while. It seems disingenuous not to acknowledge that Apple has purposely dragged their feet so they could make more profit selling proprietary software and hardware which is probably why you’re being downvoted
That’s a good read, especially the additional context at the bottom of the article.
Brave is run (and backed) by multiple people who have actions that have been morally indefensible, which casts doubt over their ability to indefinitely refrain from enshittification and question whether they aren’t already doing something nefarious.

I’m always down to hear more people talk about self hosting. I just subscribed
One suggestion is to look at getting any useful docker container up and running first to get a feel for it, then pivot towards heavier lifts. Self-hosting emails is going to be a headache as others have said, and monero nodes sounds like it could be a technical as well but that’s admittedly an uneducated guess.
You can look at the recent selfh.st poll for the most popular docker containers, see if any strike your interest and start there.
