I’ve just noticed there’s a Fediverse “optic”, so you can restrict it to Fediverse sites.

Tbh I just saw it needed a login and scrolled back up to the link without reading further, so was obviously a bit hasty in my assessment of it being a paywall.

I’ve only done a single search but it gave me a summary at the top, and some discussion forums in a different format. I’m impressed so far!

I don’t always, but when I do it’s mostly to do with character customisation. If I’m playing a game where my character is constantly visible I’d rather it was something I wanted to look at, and male clothing is boring. OK, some games don’t restrict clothes but many do. So I tend to create a character which is a female version of me, except in the cases where I prefer a male character (which isn’t often if I have the choice!)

It was invite only, not open registration, so not surprising they didn’t have many users. Although Bluesky is the same and that seems to have loads. Hmm.

Absolutely agree, that’s the stuff of science fiction and hopefully stays in the fiction realm.

The issue is that if a crime is committed then the police will be interested in gathering any video footage they can get their hands on (I’ve had it at work where I’ve been asked for CCTV footage from cameras that may have had an outside chance of capturing something important). If a company is sending robots out with cameras on them, and they are recording footage, then that footage is going to be requested (whether the company admits to working with the police or not).

Should there be this many cameras watching our every move? Probably not, but as the cameras are there, they are going to be used, and people should expect to be recorded - especially if they are committing a crime.

Somebody tried to steal a robot and was surprised that video footage from the robot was used as evidence?
