Gaming@beehaw.org•[Meta] What happened to the weekly "What are you playing?" posts?
15·5 days agoHey all! Yeah sorry I haven’t been active. I got busy and was trying to mostly stay off social media for mental health reasons, and then honestly got embarrassed about not posting for so long. But, I am down to start posting again! If everyone seems cool with that I can go ahead and make one now! This doesn’t really solve anything if I do disappear again but I’ll try and be better about it. And I can reach out to other mods / admins about taking it over if I go MIA again

2·11 months agoYeah the main thing I’ve noticed is solo queues tend to be way chiller. People are mostly just minding their own business. Group queue however is, for the most part, shoot on sight. Which at least feels a little less bad since you have people with you

2·1 year agoYeah definitely mostly melee. The way enemies respond to hits in different parts of their body is suuuuper satisfying haha. There are guns and bows and arrows but ammo is pretty sparse

3·1 year agoI really like dying light! The first game is one of my favorite zombie games. Above average open world game imo. Dying light 2 is decent but not as fun as the first imo. The beast so far has been really fun though. None of the games are anything too special, but the combat and parkour are pretty satisfying

3·1 year agoYeah I don’t think the combat is hard by any means, I just found it really boring

2·1 year agoWhile definitely more clunky than the original games system, I don’t recall any boss fight where you couldn’t at least die at the edge of the boss area you enter on and grab your stuff without actually fighting the boss. Ive done this pretty frequently

1·1 year agoIdk I mean SIE published 46ish? games on psvr 1. That’s a pretty decent amount for niche unproven tech

7·1 year agoEh. I’d argue they were actually pretty supportive of the first psvr and the PSP. Psvr 2 and vita though? Totally agree

13·1 year agoImo the biggest failure of the vita was the egregiously priced proprietary memory cards. Outrageously expensive for very little space. Made the value proposition compared to the post price drop 3ds (which used micro SDS) a no brainer unfortunately

I find the gameplay more interesting this time around honestly. There are so many ways to mix and match your moves. You get 3 choices of a primary attack, 3 choices of a secondary attack, and I think like 6 or 7(?) combo finishers. You can mix and match those in a bunch of ways and each of those have their own trees to improve them, and you can swap them out. You start with one primary attack but can unlock everything as you find materials and stuff.
And those are just your normal moves. Each of the bosses you can fight will give a combat ability which uses a power meter that recharges by using your normal attacks. The bosses each give you a choice of 2-3 combat abilities to have at any one time, and you can swap later if desired (with certain items). Plus there are various attack types that different enemies are or resistant against, plus some of the status effects you can apply have synergies.
Exploring is a total treat too. The areas feel so packed with cool things to find and do. Just having an absolute blast
