Everybody gangsta still we invent hardware accelerated JSON parsing
I can see the utility, but there should be at least some critical operability in case the phone or app doesn’t work for whatever reason, to help avoid injuries like these
Mad respect, this is the exact same outlook I have
This is also a reason I use Open Source software, because I know that if it’s not the developer, then someone else can pick up the project and live on in perpetuity, as long as it’s useful to even only one, the software will always be there
AI: “This code will create a memory leak and potentially crash the users operating system”
Me: “Nuh-uh”
AI: “Correct”
Exactly, nobody’s gonna wanna pay $20-$80 per month if they can just run an open source version for free
Classic proprietary L, ironically enough for "Open"AI
This article isn’t saying that AI is a fad or otherwise not taking off, it absolutely is, but it’s also absolutely taking too much money to run
And if these AI companies aren’t capable of turning a profit on this technology and consumers aren’t able to run these technologies themselves, then these technologies may very well just fall out of the public stage and back into computer science research papers, despite how versatile the tech may be
What good is a ginie if you can’t get the lamp?
Reddits giving a grace period to Infinity since it’s getting a subscription model developed, so they haven’t even started charging Infinity yet
Literally the only reason I occasionally go back every 3 or 4 weeks is to check if my old app moved to the subscription service yet, and so far it hasn’t
That’s cursed
More than welcome!
Here’s the F-Droid link, you can also download the APK from the codeberg releases, too
Don’t care, Infinity is finally for Lemmy, there’s nothing I miss anymore so I’m never going back to Reddit
Honestly really wasn’t a big fan of the look and functionality back when I first tried it, but it looks like it got updated recently with some more customization and theming options
Closer to Infinity but still I miss it
It also still has the weird scrolling stutter, but overall does seem more polished than jerboa
Thanks for the recommendation!
Yeah, same here with Infinity
It was my app of choice and I got so use to it, whenever I go back to it every once and a while, I just remember everything I miss since switching to jerboa
Biggest one is definitely the smoothness, idk y but jerboa has a subtly noticable stutter every time I swipe around the feeds, whereas Infinity is completely smooth, running at 90hz flawlessly
And there’s alot of other small QoL and rough-around-the-edges things, too
The minute that Infinity for Lemmy comes out, if at all, is the minute that I return to my home app
Yooo Mastodon post on Lemmy let’s goooo
Honestly I’d probably be the type to be like “yeah I hate click bait!” Download this, and then stop watching videos entirely because they all look really boring
Yeah and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
Did you know that Blender use to unironically use Shift+Ctrl+Alt+C for a surprisingly common operation?
I don’t actually remember what for, 2.79 was years ago, but I think it placed the object origin at the center of the geometry
The embed on my client only gave me the middle 2 panels for context and honestly still funny
