This is a small example of cancel culture, but there’s this bi-annual video game speed running marathon called Games Done Quick (GDQ). They raise a few million dollars every six months for the Cancer Foundation and Doctors Without Boarders. When that new Hairy Potter video game dropped, not only did GDQ ban that game from participating in their event, they banned ALL Hairy Potter video games.

That ending is hilarious to me. Societies just don’t do a compete 180° over the course of a year or so. Changes at that level are very, very slow. Taking centuries in some cases. But all of a sudden, they have taxes, social programs, environmental programs, etc…

I know Ferengis are portrayed as non-violent, but I would think makes such rapid, unpopular changes would lead to some level of violence/civil uprising.

I think people are holding SNW in such high regard because when it’s compared to the rest of nu-trek, it’s god tier. By itself, it’s ok. I like it well enough. Plenty of stinkers episodes though. I still have hope for it.

When I would re-watch TNG I used to skip the first two seasons. They’re pretty rough, but then I missed some of the good ones (measure of man, for example). Now I just skip the individual crappy ones.

It’s my favorite series. Gun to my head, I’ll take it over TNG, but barely. Diverse cast of characters, great stories. Even when the dominion war came along we still got plenty of monster of the week episodes. And of course, DS9 had something no others series can come close to: Garak.
