If I remember this study it required a formulated liquid for “feeding” the good bacteria that kept away the bad bacteria. Not sure what came of it.

One of the things I haven’t seen yet is that this may push people to upsize their drinks so McD’s can charge more. If you know you can’t get a refill some may choose the larger drink.

Unless it’s life threatening, we all wait in line at the ER. It takes me 4 months to get an appointment with my PCP, and any specialists tests take weeks to get (again, unless it’s a need-it-right-now thing like a chest X-ray for pneumonia). You wait your turn at any walk-in clinic.

Not entirely true. I lived in a house that was just over a century old. The framing was exactly what it said it was, a 2x4 was 2” by 4”. Same for all the structure. These were mill cut, but still pretty clean. It was WW2-ish and after that we started to get planed lumber that gave us 1.5x3.5. It wasn’t even until probably the early part of the 1900s that lumber started to become “dimensional”, as in the standard sizes we know of today.

Well, you could land on a bad site full of nasty ads or wind up downloading software that offered you the finest of malware or viruses.

And you could just not go to them, or not download sus programs or warez.

Now the sites and apps hunt you down and shove it in your face. They follow you, rat on you, sell your info, and constantly try to sell You stuff every page you land on.

Yeah, Old Internet wasn’t great, but it wasn’t institutionalized malice like we have today.

Another uber-wealthy tool like Musk that is insulated from the consequences of anything they do or say while surrounding themselves with sycophants.

Ticket stubs as a souvenir are a thing of the past, unfortunately. It’s laughable they want to charge for “commemorative” stubs, of course the want to fuck people out of even more money for already ridiculously priced events.

TIL “bed rotting” is a TikTok term for avoiding the world as a way to deal with burnout until you decide to come out of bed. Doesn’t sound bad on the face of it, but obviously being immobile for long periods isn’t great.

AXS is no better as far as ticket scalpers go. Used them for Cruel World fest last year, they’re just another version of Ticketmaster. Maybe marginally less invasive app-wise, but as far as jacking up event prices they’re the same.

What rules?

The rules are what each instance operator makes them (outside of breaking laws). It’s up to the other instance operators to defederate from instances that they don’t want direct sharing with for whatever reasons. So if lemmygrad wants to be anti-west, make anti-western posts, comment on current events and insinuate or blame the West for whatever, post trolling comments or fake news, that’s what will happen.

Instances operated by pro-Russian or pro-BRIC individuals/groups that have no interest in dissenting opinion and often spill out into the rest of the fediverse posting anti-western propaganda.

This site was great for like a year. Then it got spammed to shit like every other coupon/deal site with expired or fake deals, or just garbage. It wasn’t even worth trying to find a single working code or account. I’d forgotten this site even existed I haven’t used it in such a long time.

We were worried about that happening. We did get some high, thin clouds that made the view “fuzzy”, but overall it was a good view in the end. We really waited to the last minute to make a decision where we would attempt to see it, luckily we chose well.

Problem is that that they’re rarely enforced.

I understand that. However, the average consumer likely doesn’t know what the term means. One might be led to think the produce didn’t use pesticides, or that the food is more nutritious when in fact certain pesticides are allowed and the food can have the same nutritional value as non-organic. I would say that, despite the rules, people would likely feel misled, even if the product complies with the actual rules that allow it to be labeled organic.

It’s like “cage free” chickens. Sounds like a spacious barnyard full of happy chooks? In reality it will likely be a very crammed open warehouse floor with poor conditions. Are they cage free? Sure, the condition is met for the label. But the consumer doesn’t know what it means.
