ZFS is a no go for me due to not being able to add larger disk and then expand my pool size on the fly. MDADM and LVM+XFS have treated me well the past few years. I started with an 12tb pool and now over 50 tb pool

Holy cow these are way cheaper than anything I have seen before. I am in a RAID 5 setup so if a disk or two dies I am okay.
It happens my dude. I have hosted a lot of parties and we used to do a 3-4 day campout with about 20-50 people depending on the year. Some years we would go though almost all the food other years I came back with 40 lbs of pulled pork that I smoked out of the 60 lbs I made. Next year ran out of it 2 days into the 4 day camp out

You should look at some old Perl or C code. I have even seen some shell code that makes me want to bash my head in till death with an IBM Model M Keyboard
We did versioning back in the day too. $application copied to $application.old
Time to load up the ICP and Faygo
It’s the one I use along with Trello. Not gonna be a fan favorite for Selfhosted though
I really remember heatsinks being a thing on overclocked systems around that time frame and then once we got to P4 cpus the chilling towers appeared those things were massive
Lot of bridge bots for linking Matrix and Discord along with IRC
This would be what I would recommend as well.
Access is also an option as well. I think LiberOffice also has an Access like clone as well
Being an older system admin this is how we worked. Would generally have an A and B side and maybe C on our stacks. Most of the time what I supported would be A and B clusters in two data centers and then do either 100% on our primary site or do a mix of traffic between our two sites
I mean it’s had -k/-K since mid 2000s from what I remember but it’s changed
Give Gentoo a shot. It’s super stable and you will understand everything in your system. Also it now supports binary packages
Growing up in a rural part of Ohio it was needed. Everything was 20-30 miles away. Need milk and eggs, well see you an a hour
You kids with your fancy branch support back in my day we had CVS and RCS liked it
Hey there were like 3 of us lol! No joke that’s what I have done at a few of the smaller shops as an SRE/System Engineer
Time for OP to install a User Agent Switcher plugin
Checking out Logseq now. I switched to Obsidian a few months ago and have been really liking it. Was time to switch it up from org-mode after YEARS of using it
I wonder if that’s a new feature. IIRC the issue was with vdevs in ZFS in the pool expansion. I am a FreeBSD user and do have some jails running. I do like ZFS a lot it’s way more mature then BTRFS on the Linux
