If it was written fiction then I would agree, but for the screen I still prefer human actors in makeup over full CGI.

Just for you my lawful good friend
What I want from Trek:
✅️ A sensible tone, mostly serious and sometimes silly. Like real life.
✅️ An exploration of morals, ethics and the human condition, aligned with the mostly utopian future depicted by 80s and 90s Trek.
✅️ An episodic plot that is not overrun by a season arc but not devoid of character development.
✅️ Occasional fun episodes with dress up and jokes.
✅️ Full orchestral score.
❌️ Too many action scenes and explosions.
❌️ Too much budget on CGI.
❌️ Over the top cheesy fan service.
❌️ Rewriting canon.
❌️ Excessively American oriented script.
❌️ Lazy storytelling.
❌️ Reusing plot devices.
While I am not the biggest fan of the new Trek stuff, especially movies, I am excited about this one. I wonder if it will be palatable to non trekkies so I can show it to my gf and our room mate.
Your character is at full power from day 1, so you only get stronger by learning to play better. The naval combat can take a bit of time to master but it’s fun. The only thing you get for playing a long time are cosmetics. If you want to get sweaty with PvP then you can find a group on the SoT discord. Otherwise, for more casual play you can sail solo or join other players using the open crew matchmaking system. I have around 1700 hours in the game and it’s just as fun as when I started.
Sea of thieves.
You get to talk to people. It can be a grind if you want. Or PvP if you want. Or just fishing and relaxing if you want. It has matured nicely and is still popular.
You make some great points. I can’t disagree.
