I have the same problem with the machines at my apartment. Actually, I think it’s worse because it’s not supposed to be an estimate; you pay based on time and you set the time yourself. I set the dryer to 45 minutes and it sometimes takes up to an hour and a half. At least it isn’t charging me for the extra time.

Because they have enough people that they can just start climbing each other to get there? 🤔

As more of an outside observer here:

When I was still using Reddit, it looked like most people in that community were just running personal home media servers using basic as fuck raspberry pi setups or just old hardware that could handle it, like maybe a modded Xbox or something.

Here on Lemmy, it looks more like you’re all actual networking specialists hosting damn near everything from home automation to business-level server systems for your home business. You guys are serious; Reddit isn’t. Respect.

Damn… Wish I still had it because I wanna check out what that Death Note game is like. Though it does sound like it’s basically Among Us but with a Death Note skin.

They go for the unattended bowls so they can just take it all for themselves. I dressed up as a decoration scarecrow one or two years after I was too old to trick or treat myself and held a bowl of candy in my lap out on the porch. Every kid that attempted to take the entire bowl, got a scare as I stood up and shouted scary things like “TAKE THE BOWL, I TAKE YOUR SOUL!”

Adding data caps reduces the total data volume, which in turn statistically reduces the average bandwidth used by all subscribers together (or whatever subset shares a connection).

I would like to know how you figure that load of horseshit. The average customer never even hits the data cap, so it’s not like it’s just cutting people off so others can get on.

What choice? Most of the country is stuck with whatever singular entity controls the network in your city. Very few places have any choice about what service they get. And they all have data caps unless you’re a qualified business.

Limiting how much I can pull at a time (bandwidth) makes sense; limiting how much I can use in total is bullshit. It’s not like it can run out.

The “you died” text on it makes me wonder if it was some kind of special Dark Souls thing. But I don’t remember any special Dark Souls release on Xbox.

It could have been custom made back when they were doing that if you bought directly from MS. Not sure if they still do that, but I rememeber it being a thing back in, I think, the XB360 days.

1. Your UBI allotment of energy usage is limited.

2. What you’re even allowed to replicate is limited. Not just by, like, laws limiting what kinds of things you can replicate but also the fact that starships and other things require materials that can’t be replicated even if you had lawful permission.

3. Look at the Maquis. They’re basically what you described, within the scope of what they actually can do as simple citizens. Even with the benefit of actual star fleet officers they didn’t fare too well.

I hate Goodwill out here. They have the least selection of crap, and charge absurdly high prices like this. I go to another local chain of thrift stores called The Hope Chest. There’s like 4 of them around here and they rock. Usually go there for pants because I can find good quality materials and spend like $5 for 6 pairs.

I mean that it’s quite a leap going from making, like, a text-based adventure in C++ or BASIC and changing/adding lines of code to someone else’s thing making mods to doing actual, professional level programming of systems I have never even fucked with for fun. Like, I can’t make the screen display an image. I don’t know how to do any sort of networking, at least from a programming standpoint (hardware and shit, no problem; I was CISCO and A+ certified at one point).

I guess if all they need me to do is make what is essentially a database or calculator, I could do that. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It would be rad af if you could not only run Doom off of one of these (because they already run on Windows so it’s probably easy as hell to run Doom on it), but also somehow get the scanner part to use its laser to make one of those holographic keyboards to actually play Doom on it without any external devices.

To be fair, GTA also isn’t the size of Earth while using extremely high resolution satellite images as textures.
