It’s crazy that Star Trek V was once considered the worst Star Trek film but is now universally considered among critics to be the greatest movie of all time.

I know! I hate that I want them…

Those exterior shots really stuck with me as well. I can’t imagine growing up with blurry spaceship models viewed on a CRT tv to the giant, sweeping, detailed close up and wide shots we get in that opening shuttle scene. Now people laugh about how long it goes on for but I have to imagine for a lot of fans it was still not long enough!

I forgot about that scene! Must be in the director’s cut.

I decided I’m going to go to one of these but can’t decide which!

TWO TRUE WARRIORS

I thought Nitter had been broken for some time now?

Honestly the entire notion of caring about “ratings” at all is stupid unless you are trying to sell ads. Reviews are great and reviewing art is an art form of it’s own. But taking a bunch of reviews and smoothing them together and averaging them out in order to pretend you’ve reached some sort of objective truth about how “good” a piece of media is is a stupid thing to care about and will only bring you sorrow and a more shallow life.

😆 This is 100% them

A few years later, when we did Star Trek: Enterprise, the producers wanted a more NASA-like vibe, so I did quite a few emblems for Bob Blackman, our costume designer. Wendy Drapanas, Geoff Mandel, and Alan Kobayashi also contributed some patches.
This listicle says it was Wendy Drapanas but there’s no further explanation.

There are sizeable number of people who don’t like all kinds of things but I don’t make it a habit of pointing it out when I see someone with those things permanently etched onto their skin.

I know it’s not what you’re asking but I think Okuda did the original design

lmao why on Earth would you phrase it like that?!?! Just say nice tattoo!

I agree, but the particular Maquis we saw tended to be reactionary and narrow minded. I think it could have been presented as a much better grey area situation like in Journey’s End.

I always felt like they did a pretty poor job of making the audience feel any significant level of sympathy for the Maquis (assuming that was the goal).

The meme is 2/10 but this comment is 10/10
