My first choice is Pop!_OS because my graphics cards are NVidia, but you said that you don’t like their DE. My second choice is LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition). It is boring and stable and gets out of your way.
Apple gets a free service that would cost an insane amount of money if they were to pay API fees or build their own data centers and models…
All true.
OpenAI gets free advertising by being included in millions of Apple devices.
Also true but woefully incomplete. They also get millions of Apple devices and users to train their models at no cost. When I say you are the product, I mean that Apple sold access to you and everything you do to OpenAI in exchange for OpenAI functionality at no extra charge. I have no doubt that Apple will make a best efforts to anonymize data, but OpenAI absolutely will have deep access.
Because the end user is the product.
It made me think of this old Michael Keaton movie, “My Life”, in which he leaves a treasure trove of video tapes to his unborn child.
I changed my Twitter/X/Xitter logo to this.
Here is a quick step by step set of instructions on how to do it yourself.
Step 1: Logout from Twitter/X/Xitter, uninstall the app, and delete your account.
Step 2: Install Mastodon, select a server that matches your tastes, and created an account.

Preaching to the choir. They hire use to performance tune their app but then their IT staff manges to not notice the most basic things.
We do Grafana + Prometheus for most of our clients but I think that adding Loki into the mix might be necessary. The amount of clients that are missing basic events like “you’ve run out of disk space…two days ago”, is too damn high.
So what I am reading is that I should open a few Reddit accounts and start replying to posts with random excerpts from Master P era dirty south lyrics en masse.
When I made this, I did not expect I’d use it much. Then…Windows 11.
We currently have a stacked roster thanks to those mandates. Even more hilarious is that we are helping three clients who’s projects are currently underwater because they lost key staff thanks to return-to-office mandates. We are not a staffing agency, we are a highly specialized firm, so right now they are paying six times the cost for specialists to do what they used to do with in-house staff. Funnier still, we have been a 100% remote work firm since 2012, so ultimately the office is still empty. SMH
27" 1440p capped at 120hz is my playground. I find myself missing the extra real estate at 1080p.
Note: I do more than gaming on my PC.
I use to run RasPlex on a PiZero with a Bluetooth gamepad as a Plex client. There has to be a jellyfin equivalent. For some time, I have just used older game consoles as media clients instead.
We never make minor production changes on Fridays or right before holidays. It is always a bad move because if you get into trouble your odds of not being able to teach the necessary resources are greatly increased.
Major production changes are only done during a scheduled downtime which is planned well in advance to make sure everyone is available, including third party vendors.
I have response teams in a “follow the sun” model as well as having my US team spread coast to coast, plus all our clients set their servers to UTC. It makes the most sense to keep something set to UTC at a moment’s glance.
LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) is a wonderful self-hosting platform.
