Is Wired out here taking stories from YouTubers? I swear Linus Tech Tips covered this entire thing months ago, saying basically to stick to Fire, Onn or Chromecast devices.
I’m a big fan of physical games, I want to own them, and play them even if the internet isn’t available, and this blocks that, I don’t want it. I don’t have a gaming PC anymore because I can buy a console cheaper, but if physical discs are gone, gaming PC’s allow for piracy so I can keep the games for as long as I want because I don’t see every future Xbox having backward compatibility.
Here I am wishing they had chosen VBulletin or Invision, lol. I think it’s just a case of what I’m more familiar with in terms of forums though.
I get their decision, forum software is stable, has plugins and tools to help with moderation, has been around a long time and they don’t have to worry about things like LemmyNSFW or other instances they don’t want the hassle of because they control all the content that shows up in a forum space.
I’m just glad it’s not a fucking Discord thing.
Frakes recently renewed his call for the episode “Code of Honor” from season 1 to be completely removed from reruns, home video, and steaming platforms. He made the call in the past. So while they might not ever remove it, some people would like it to be removed.
“But I was told or I was under the impression that it had rubbed so many people the wrong way that it was pulled. I think they should take it out of the rotation. I think it is a great time to make that kind of – as small as it is – to make that kind of a statement would be fabulous.”
Also, I just realized I posted this on the completely wrong article that I thought I was, I thought I was posting to a different topic about Frakes’ request to remove the episode after finding out it was on Paramount’s streaming service.
I hate this reaction to removal they want, I’m a big fan of the placement card at the start of these things that say “What you are about to see is wrong and shouldn’t have been done,” but not that removal of the content. I think it’s way more powerful to put that content warning placard before a show from the '90s as proof there are still things that need to be done and it’s not a “distant” past thing.
Edit, I guess '80s for this episode.
I have a junk gmail box that I use with no real info on it, I linked it then immediately unlinked it, and that seems to have worked. So I guess if you wanted to do this portion but not give them access you could make a Gmail you will never use just to link then unlink.
