There was/is a lot more and that’s one of the various reasons the different Lemmy/Mbin/Piefed sites haven’t swayed people over yet. There’s far more people around here replying to posts like this and news posts, as well as creating news/politics/“dry” posts or find-anywhere-fare like memes/shitposts than much else.

Do beware, however, that you may want to dilute the alcohol to some degree, or simply use a lower concentration form of it. Too strong and it may eat at the underlying plastic just as much as the coating and ruin it.

If the Otterbox case had a rubberized coating on it to try to improve grip, and with it being 6 years old, there’s a possibility it’s the culprit. You could try ditching the case for a little while, and/or getting a new case and swapping them out, clean the surfaces again and see if you feel the stickiness again after handling your phone and other stuff.

However, often with those rubberized coatings, the degradation (when severe enough to feel sticky) is more immediately apparent and you’d be more apt to avoid touching anything else afterward. Also in my experience I don’t recall it transferring to other surfaces much, but then again when I dealt with it I noticed ASAP and cleaned my hands right away.

But compare with GOG then. They sell games, you download them with no DRM so you own the download essentially.

I set up Wireguard simply to get a rough understanding of how to do so & to try to access some home resources while away, which works well enough across simpler network situations, but as you indicate, breaks down against more complicated network situations.

Similar might be running Wireguard yourself, right? Albeit if memory serves that setup tends to require port forwarding, so maybe not (or maybe I set it up wrong).

I’ve read and reread, listened and relistened to info on docker/containers and I still feel like I’m missing something tbh.

Let’s say you have a docker container for something and it’s for a Linux distro, that won’t run on another OS, will it? Maybe not even a different Linux distro from the one it was made for (e.g. Ubuntu or Arch or Fedora or whatever).

To go off your example, Docker’s not like an expansion module to make your Switch games work on a PlayStation or Xbox…Right? There seems to be some kind of mixed messaging on this, the way they’re so readily recommended (which seems to be related to a presumption of familiarity that often isn’t there toward those inquiring).

I guess I’ve also been confused because like…Shouldn’t old installers handle bundling or pulling relevant dependencies as they’re run? I’d imagine that’s where containers’ security benefits come into play though, alongside being virtualized processes if I’m not mistaken.

Probably for similar reasons as to why they moved from Reddit. Also configuring their own instance to approximate a traditional forum would honestly kind of undermine the whole point of using Lemmy or the like to begin with (at least imo).

I understand the sentiment of wanting them to to make their stuff easier to follow & post to from here and other places in the Fediverse, but from what they wrote, I get the sense that this format simply isn’t what they were ever looking for in terms of fielding discussions/questions. Their move to Reddit was more of a compromise for where they were at with the project at the time, but now that Jellyfin’s more developed in terms of the software and community, a forum is a more workable prospect.

It looks like a title may only be 90 characters on Lemmy, so I guess you could make the title text then pad out with spaces (or whatever) to then separate out into distinct body text.

It’s an interactive world history atlas, where you can set the year and see what territories/nations existed or were like in the past. I’m not sure how accurate the maps are, especially as you go back further in history, but it’s still fun to get a rough idea of where different groups of people were.
