People will deny this but this is the only real reason for doing that. The other reason is copying apple, which isn’t really another reason as apple removed it for the first reason. Fairphone just went the extra mile to claim that headphones are wasteful, in essence they’re making an excuse to cover up their reason why and also trying to force others to do it as well.

I’ve heard that it’s considered click fraud and that the advertisers sometimes Force the site to pay them back possibly a little bit extra as a fine.

Not too sure though. Personally I don’t really use it because the adblocking structure I have set up isn’t really compatible because it has multiple layers. I block the ads over the network through a network-wide firewall, I also block them through portmaster on my computer, and finally I have uBlock Origin in my browser. I also have adnauseam alongside of it and I turn off ublock origin for the sites that I want to autoclick ads on but almost none make it through the multilevel network filtering.

More specifically I would recommend adnauseam since it’s extra punishing to aggressive advertisers by clicking the ads automatically.

Where does Element/Matrix fit in here? It doesn’t really seem like Paranoid like XMPP since people have been using it pretty regularly now, not just paranoid people.

There’s an extension that allows you to hide incognito mode from websites called Hide Private Mode I’m not sure why browsers don’t do this by default (maybe it’s some funny compliance thing) it would greatly improve privacy.

I agree, although it can’t hurt to also accelerate that process by making it unbearable for scabs and normies to use the site. It also helps by setting a precedent for any future centralized social sites (like squabbles) who may try to profit off their users or go to war with the internet. Maybe it might even make them open to the idea of federation (probably not but at the very least it’ll make them leery of doing stuff like Reddit, unless they’re just blatantly stupid like Huffman is).

At least until the spambot onslaught begins and they start to find it incredibly difficult if not impossible to keep up with the endless flow of spam due to their lack of assistance tools and beneficial third party apps.
