Star Trek TOS episode ‘Balance of Terror’ is basically an updated submarine movie.
That’s not a put down. They had to teach people how to watch science fiction.

[off topic]
“The Flight Of The Phoenix” is a great old-style Hollywood movie. A plane crashes in the African desert and the crew and passengers have to find a way to get home. Exactly the kind of movie Roddenberry would have been thinking of when he pitched TOS.
I like Stan Lee’s line. A fanboy asked him who would win a fight between two particular characters.
“Whoever the writer decides would win.”
Also, the show can’t possibly keep up with advances in science and changes in the real world.
I gave you an upvote because I came to ask the same thing.
We’ve wandered into a bad neighborhood…
I was just thinking that there are no scenes of Scotty and McCoy sharing a glass or two and telling tales in TOS. A shameful dereliction
A man owned a music shop, and his lover owned the flower shop next door.
One day she came by and asked if he’d like to have some flowers to brighten up his store.
“Yes, please. Put roses on the piano and tulips on my organ.”
[old, old, old joke]
This should be used in all areas.
I used to work in public health and I’d see people who had certifications [not college degrees] talking down to patients, and top doctors who were happy to explain things.
‘An’ is used before any vowel. An opposite, an electrician, an icehouse, an apple.
The biggest change in America between TOS and TNG was Watergate. Even if people thought that Johnson was wrong to go into Vietnam, they mostly believed that the government was trying to do the right thing.
I had to double check. Thought that it was a ‘coroner’ wagon.
Not canon, but there was a fan theory that the changes occurred after the tribbles were transported aboard the Klingon ship in TOS.
Cryogenically frozen after a boob job may be the most underused trope of the 1990s.
Jack of All Trades,
Had to look that up. Bruce Campbell as a spy/superhero? How could I have missed that one?
Thanks for the info.
I remember the show getting worse with time, but I wasn’t enough of a fan to seek out the gossip.
Cleopatra 2525
I was around in 2000s and never heard of this. I blame society.
It’s funny. They are all referred to by their last names [Dr. McCoy, Mr. Scott, Ensign Chekov] but people always assume that ‘Uhura’ is her first name.
Try with ‘Nyota.’
