Oh man, let me introduce you to my absolute favorite used book seller:

Also, construction leftovers on eBay are a great way to get sink faucets, light fixtures, etc. for a house.

Seriously, the handful of times I’ve checked back in on Reddit recently just made me think, “Wow I hate it here.”
I’m so much happier on the Fediverse.
Without this feature, I wouldn’t have known that Yeah Yeah Yeahs and PJ Harvey released new albums. So I’m torn. On the one hand, I’m happy artists I already love can still reach me; on the other hand, I hate that smaller artists I don’t know about yet still have to pay to play
Understaffing, penny-pinching, forcing medical professionals to take on more and more work with no help, to say nothing of increased pay. These working conditions hurt patients chronically.
That’s why doctors and nurses strike. Especially THESE doctors - the new ones who just graduated from medical school. They’re the single most exploited group of people working in healthcare when you account for how little they are paid in comparison to how much they’re expected to work and how much revenue they generate.
In the US we call them resident doctors. In the UK junior doctors. I absolutely support their strike
Literally my life for six hours yesterday. Finally got the guy through the generic scripted responses so he could escalate to someone who could actually fix the problem…
Thank you for reminding me that I would love to own a copy of the TNG Tech Manual for display in my house

AND it’s a small molecule drug and not a new immunotherapy? Holy shit. I hope the trials go well
There is no wrong way to cut a pizza. I’m willing to die on this hill
Actually…yes? Somehow it does
I’m mildly obsessed with HK lol. I only got it in Dec 2022 and I just beat The Radiance for the first time a few weeks ago. I can’t seem to manage it a second time, so I literally just bought the game on Steam and got an Xbox controller because it’s more responsive than my Switch. I’m not sure what happened to my life haha
(Still waiting for someone to get my reference though. Not HK related :)
With that username and you don’t say Hollow Knight right out the gate, I am disappoint 😂
(Seriously though, OP, Hollow Knight is cheap and amazing.)
Pictures taken seconds before disaster
That means “imported” lol. Important is “importante.”
It really is though. I’m super excited for you :)
I’m not a gamer.
I beat the original Contra on NES and I’ve barely played anything ever except the first Animal Crossing and AC:NH during the pandemic.
I picked up Hollow Knight for Christmas last year and it’s the first game I’ve played to completion in literally 35 years. I just got [no spoilers] ending with 105% completion like two weeks ago.
I can’t begin to convey how much I love this game. It’s definitely what I’m (still) playing this week.
Slightly off-topic, but speaking of practical effects, if you haven’t seen the SyFy reality game called Face Off, you really should look it up.
It’s a practical effects makeup competition. The host, McKenzie Westmore, is the daughter of famed Star Trek makeup effects designer Michael Westmore, who also is featured in the early seasons as a “mentor” offering critiques and advice halfway through each episode’s competition.
It’s fun, the producers actively discourage catty fighting stupidity, and you get frequently see the competing makeup artists helping one another when it’s crunch time.
Peripherally related
Yeah, I’m in the “have to have WhatsApp” camp because it’s the only way I can stay in touch with a bunch of international friends now that I don’t have a Facebook account anymore.
There are alternatives, but I don’t press about it because at least Meta doesn’t monetize WhatsApp…for now
The actress returns. I’m not gonna tell you any more than that haha. It’s a story arc I really liked actually.
And Season 1 is notoriously bad. The show was really struggling to figure out what it wanted to be. Season 2, like around episode 8 is where you start to get into the “holy crap this has no right to be this good” stuff.
We have to pay for the services we use somehow. I’d rather it be cash than the details of my entire life. But the money to operate those services has to come from somewhere
