I’ll have to see if I’ve got a copy of an NDA I signed for play testing but that’s what I would have thought. It would be provisional on your participation not on an agreement like old school EULAs. As someone else pointed out it seems to be in closed beta or some form of early access, so maybe Valve won’t care and it won’t come back on them.

And I’m not under NDA. I have signed no contracts, made no verbal agreements; I haven’t even clicked through a EULA.  This message does pop up when I launch Deadlock, but I didn’t click OK; instead, I hit the Escape key and watched it disappear.

I’m not a lawyer but I sure hope the writer of this checked with a lawyer before posting because that does not sound right.

Update, August 12th: Turns out Valve was not fine with me trying Deadlock with friends; I’ve been banned from matchmaking! Oh well. Please feel free to make fun of me in the comments!

Yeah that’s the one. Not quite as bad then but still didn’t learn much from them then. My bad it’s been years since I gave up on it. (Edit: and dropped a half- oops)

I have no idea what that is, from media seems to be republican speak for “not excluding anyone that isn’t white”.

I think more to the other person point is it being needlessly prioritised, seemingly at the expense of quality writing/characters.

Disco is a pretty choice example. The main character is frankly unbearable. Super unlikeable, overly emotional (despite being Vulcan) and frequently fucks up because she won’t listen or acts out of emotion. She is pointlessly insubordinate in an attempt to write her as strong but it inadvertently makes her incompetent and entitled. Everyone seems to cry, a lot, in the later season. The gay couple felt cheap and even unhealthy at some point, I think in the ep where one of them nearly dies, but unfortunately I can’t remember why. Didn’t really feel like ST just a show wearing its uniform.

Hey at least it was super diverse though. Although as you point out, it is largely the writing that boned disco. Just feels like these shows prioritise being as diverse as possible and then jump to racism the second people notice or criticise the shows for it or unrelated elements.

I entirely agree and appreciate the sentiment but this person has a history of this and just accusing anyone who makes that suggestion with whatever comes to mind. IRL I’m all for it but at some point as more and more people become aware of this poster pattern of behaviour it become disruptive to the community and the repeated negative pushback can’t be healthy or helping to the poster.

Whoo boy, it’s this poster again. People who disagree with Frickineh’s assessment should go through the OP post history and some of the replies. Though this will get you branded a “stalker” by the OP. It’s the extended family now? Last time they were on c/all it was a cop ex husband. That and the cat being “shot” saga, ya know, despite it looking nothing like a GSW. Still got a chunk of change in donations though.

Docker is great because you can install something and all the shit it needs is installed and runs in that container. It’s good for a multitude of reasons mine are:

1. No more installing a dependency, tool or library alongside a program that fucks up something else. No more shit breaking because you installed the latest python but some other program breaks if you move beyond 3.10 (and you forgot to use venv I guess).
2. Somewhat a follow on from 1 but this makes for great functionality with self hosting. I can run a couple docker compose/build command and build/rebuild the containers anywhere I need them. I can test a container on a windows computer to see if it does what I want and works as intended and then spin the some container up on my media server, even if it’s a different OS. I have a bunch of them on my home server and it and it’s great being able to just plug in the port number of the other containers they need to talk to, if any, and that’s all. One container breaking doesn’t break everything else.
