All of human political activity boils down to violence. If pacifism were a legitimate strategy then we wouldn’t be in our current situation.

Don’t worry, I had a bit too much to drink last night so it’s covered
The writers didn’t know what to do with Alexander so they just made worf into a shit dad instead of doing the normal thing where they shove the kid into a room one episode never to return
Environmental pressures and conditions make specific traits more advantageous for species inhabiting a particular environmental niche. That’s why everything turns into crabs
Do I look like I know hwat a replicator is??? I just want a gaht dang hot dog!
I watched season 1 of Picard and discovery and they just didn’t feel like Star Trek to me. The people complaining about how “woke” it is just distract from legitimate criticism. A lot of it for me was the sets. Their design was dark, gloomy and had an air of oppression that, while present in various forms across trek, wasn’t previously baked into the design of the federation. It was all moody lighting and permenantly frowning actors. That temperament translated into the writing as well but you’ve already addressed part of that. And I’ve got a bone to pick in general with season 1 of Picard but that’s a whole other rant lol
I can and have done that before lol. Not with the window down but over the PA.Here’s a video that might scratch that itch though
That’s what I call the morning after a night of heavy drinking
Yeah it’s just the worst of y2k era ego stroking ick ever. I could go on for hours about that fucking song lol
Don’t feel bad, your instincts are on point. It’s some apple pie baseball chevy truck american anthem at the stadium bullshit. It’s so american it hurts and Im from the southern US lol
When I used to smoke and do mushrooms (still do the mushrooms, but kicked the cigs) I’d buy 2 packs before a trip because I’d chain smoke almost a whole pack during it. I’d light my new cig with the butt of the old one. God I mustve reeked lol. To be fair-ish I was mostly letting them burn because they were fun to look at
Excuse me, it’s called the USA Entrepreneur. Get it right, pleb
Gowron bless 🙏🙏
I don’t dislike Keiko. She didn’t necessarily have no redeeming qualities, but a lack of any qualities. They could’ve done more but it was painfully obvious they didn’t have any ideas for her character. To the point that I feel like it would’ve been better if they just left her out entirely
Keiko and O’Brien should’ve just divorced off camera when he came aboard DS9. Alternatively do the kid thing where she goes into a room one episode and never returns
Does guiker still fuck?
Who’s your carrier? I’ve been considering a switch to lineage or graphene but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet
I’ll have you know there a plenty of insufferable internet communists who enjoy and comment on star trek posts. Especially if we they can drag our their politics into it
Broader socialism has its roots in the French revolution and liberalism too. But you don’t see anyone making a case that Marxists are liberals due to their common ideological heritage. Because it’s silly. It’s almost like divergent ideologies have to originate from somewhere and within a particular historical context. It’s unproductive and pointless to say “z came from y and y from x so z is the same as x”
Pacifism is an ideology centered on political change through nonviolence. Maybe you didn’t explicitly say it, but you might as well have. Can you provide a source on violence being a result of political breakdown and not intrinsic to politics itself? How do current regimes uphold their power?
Politics is, more or less, how decisions are made in groups. Making a decision doesn’t preclude violence. Wars are political and their entire point is violence. Colonialism was foundational to the politics of the last 3+ centuries and it was incredibly violent. Besides vibes, what evidence do you have to support the claim that politics aren’t violent?
