On the whole a solid episode and the Scott appearance was very surprising and well done.
However why the hell is Christine the only survivor on the cayuga, it makes no sense at all.
Also the fucking cliffhanger is ridiculous

If you have a pi kicking around or a docker instance of pihole you can use it to take over dhcp of the router and then set the dns servers in pihole.
That’s what I do currently on my home hub
Agreed, I didn’t mind Kirk being in A Quality of Mercy or Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. However, him being in this episode just felt he was in it for the sake of it.
I refused to buy Apple products for 15 years. Recently I grabbed a whole set of them and honestly, there’s only one thing I can say. It just fucking works.
I’ve been using Linux/Windows for the better part of two decades and I’m just at a point where I don’t care to tinker anymore unless I have to, I just wanna have stuff that works especially when it’s related to work stuff. Apple stuff is just reliable in that sense, oh my Android phone decided to crash on itself? Yeah my iPhone has had 0 crashes all year I’ve owned it. My M2 Macbook Air has superior battery life and portability at a more reasonable price than pretty much any competitor on the market?
Yes certain Apple things are beyond stupid expensive, Hello Apple TV 4K 128gb being £180 on launch?
But when I want something to work and not have to think about it, the apple stuff fits that need.
What would you describe as large?
The company I work for is a multinational at this point and exclusively uses Google for Mail/Docs. We have I think 600 stores now across 12 countries.
That’s how I felt about it myself, they knocked it out of the park.

This episode is one of the best episodes in the modern era of Trek, it’s lighthearted it’s funny it celebrates Trek and it’s done so tastefully that I genuinely have nothing bad to say about it. It reminds me of Trials and Tribble-ations.
Plus that line at the end where they tell Una ad astra per aspera and that’s why boimler joined Starfleet is just the right kind of emotions.
Honestly, they smashed it in this episode and ofc the 2d animated intro was chefs kiss.
The scene while nonsensical in terms of what we’ve established in Trek Science is at least visually cool and fun.
I’ll check out the season when it airs, I just hope it is better than I expect.
Overall a solid episode, a little different but ultimate felt very core Star Trek TOS with strange alien life and coming to a resolution.
Paul Wesley continues to impress me in the role of James T Kirk but his character did not need to be in this episode, they need to be careful with how they use him going forward.
I haven’t seen all of them in person, but the other day someone showed me the StarLite which is their budget laptop and honestly it really surprised me. The only thing with similar build quality I’ve seen at such a low price was the google pixel book go which can be had used absurdly cheap.
I think they’re the company I’d use to buy Linux laptops if I used one daily, these days I use a MacBook Air m2 simply because the battery life beats all and for how I work that’s what I need most.
If you’re genuinely looking for Linux Laptops I’d take a look at https://starlabs.systems/pages/starfighter
There’s also https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/index.php
I gotta get me one of those.
It’s definitely progress and seeing myself in one of the top results was nice but it’s going to take a lot more work and tbh the decentralised nature of the links might also hurt because clicking on the dbzero link looks like a hackerman link if you know what I mean
The most useful comment in this entire thread, the search results are a bit of a mess currently and that’s a huge stumbling block.
I tried a simple search query with lemmy and the way results come back is not good
it’s going to take a long time for that to change but just as a casual user I doubt I’d click anything past the first few reddit links.
There’s also another side to it which is that there’s a very big difference in what TOS fans and TNG era fans would consider proper Star Trek.
I’ve always held the belief that SNW is very much a spiritual successor or prequel to TOS, and while TNG was a sequel in some ways to TOS it was a very different tone and style and it’s some what jarring for people who never really got into TOS to accept as Star Trek.
People think that witty banter and quips were something new to SNW but TOS was full of them the entire relationship of the Trio was built on them, or the goofy scenes where someone would do something silly like Scotty getting drunk with comedic music etc.
This combined with as you mentioned above some slight alterations to canon drives people up the wall and it’s just silly. Enjoy the show for what it is or just don’t watch it.
Honestly, the only one I still catch from time to time is Sean on Trek culture because all the other ones got absurdly hostile the last few years when it came to Discovery & Picard and it ended up with people quoting some truly insane alt right sources like midnights edge.
I find it better to just enjoy the shows and discuss on reddit(now lemmy) than watch these influencers.
TMP Era is just the best looking classic Star Trek experience some of the designs in my opinion were in things like Starfleet Command the video game like the Akula class, but I have a soft spot for the DS9/First Contact/Star Trek Armada period.
And that is exactly why I bought an M2 Air this year, price vs performance nothing beats the MacBooks at the moment.
