I’m trying to run my work profile over VPN. The best thing I’ve found so far is external GL.iNet router and put my phone on airplane mode.
Are there any better solutions?

I guess you are talking about Android. You could use app tunneling depending on the particular app?
Iirc you can just install a VPN app in the work profile to accomplish this.
Your employer would find it
If this is Android work profile, you can run any VPN app at the same time as the VPN app on your main profile. Just install the VPN app inside the work profile.
