I don’t want my water close to the freezing point, and I would rather not get bumped int the teeth by lumps of frozen water that dilute my drink and hurt my teeth.

Straws negate the ice bumping your teeth problem, but not the other things. It’s an acquired taste. I’m fine with either, personally.
