  • I think that’s less about “hacking” and more about modern day devs being overworked by their hot-shit team lead and clueless PMs and creating “temporary” solutions that become permanent in the long run.

This bucket was probably something they set up early in the dev cycle so they could iterate components without needing to implement an auth system first and then got rushed into releasing before it could be fixed. That’s almost always how this stuff happens; whether it’s a core element or a rushed DR test.

  • At first, they did not regroup, they just started attacking this guy.

Eventually, they did get their shit together and they HAVE REACHED enough signatures.

So now that they are winning, why does PS matter at all anymore? Why has this annoyance turned into an online crusade that I have to constantly hear about? I do not give a shit about these gripes with this guy, and considering that he was ultimately irrelevant to SKG, I’m not sure why they care so much either

  • I think you got wooshed here

The guy in the picture is PirateSoftware, accused of sabotaging the Stop Killing Games initiative in the EU.

This post is part of a coordinated harassment campaign by big angy gamers because bad nerd man say companies won’t listen to their little lib demands to the EU

So instead of regrouping their efforts (which, I might add, they did, and they got their day in parliament) they (started off by) basically trashing this dude until he lost a large portion of his community. Because like they didn’t like how he defended his position. About video games. And now the fucking internet won’t shut up about it even though they got their way again through toxic bullying. And it annoys me. So I shitpost about it wherever I can because I hope it annoys them too.

  • Self hosting a password manager is great, but be sure to read up on keeping it secure, and don’t store anything important in it until you have working, tested backup solution. And re-test it frequently in a non-destructive way.

If you lose your password storage to a disk failure or something, you’re gonna be hurting for a while.
