Using Google is a privacy and a security risk.
Except, it is irrelevant whether or not you decide to use Google.
yeah, just lay down and spread your butt cheeks for sundar the creep. resistance if futile 🤡
I can decide to not use Google (I have indeed stopped), but it becomes harder to avoid all websites that run google stuff.
Resistance is obviously not futile (or Google wouldn’t be doing this). But resistance will have to update.
At least there’s a chance this crap is illegal where I live. And if so, there’s a small chance they’ll care.
I cut most all Google out besides spytube and yes some services do use Google cloud so I am still sometimes connecting to Google servers
So I feel like it should be possible for a popular browser like firefox to obfuscate these finger printing results by reporting and requesting standard readouts. For example, requesting layouts for all common phone resolutions, then filtering on the user end and giving the user their actual layout. If every instance of firefox gave the same bogus info it would camouflage a large number of users. I’m sure this would use a little more processing power and data, but would probably be worth having a privacy toggle for.
I am not a tech pro, I assume I am missing something that prevents the feasibility of this idea.
It’s not only possible, its what lots of browsers have been doing for years. That and just randomizing non-essential data points like system fonts, languages and operating systems.
