Edit: their windshield was completely iced over.

Nope. I was at the drive thru in the front of the line waiting on my food with the engine switched off. I never touch my phone in the car unless I’m off the road and stationary.

I’m not gonna make a post saying this guy’s a moron for driving with an icy windshield while I’m taking a picture of it doing 40 miles an hour and uploading it. That’d make me kind of a major hypocrite, wouldn’t it?

But they got to the drive thru with their windshield like this. Which is kinda terrifying.

It may be easy to see out of from the inside. I have some days where there’s no way I’m driving, and other days where there’s definitely frost but I can see enough detail that I can drive at-parity with days where there’s no ice. I do try to get it gone as much as possible, but some days thats not feasible.

Wat. Some days it isn’t feasible to have your windshield free from ice while you’re driving???

If your car doesn’t have a function to pre-heat it, you can buy a pre-heater for not very much money.
You can buy a windshield cover to put on in the evening for even less money.
Or put 2-3 hot water bottles on the dash first thing in the morning. That’s enough to melt the ice on the windshield.

Bold of you to assume I don’t have 9 alarms set and struggle to get up early enough before work to do that. Sleep disorders are fun!

I do use the heater, but it takes a while. Some days I am dangerously late for work as a result. Those are the days even the scraper doesnt work.

Sorry, being late for work is not an excuse for driving a vehicle in an unfit condition. Either you prepare the car to drive it, or you don’t start the journey.

Though I don’t advocate the practice, I have occasionally seen drivers who cleared only the area immediately in front of the driver. That’s still bad, but not quite as much so as driving with a fully iced-over windshield.

edit: oh, I see now that OP edited the post to clarify this was not the case.
